Gazing at the Body:Preservation of Time

Gazing at the Body: Preservation of Time" is a conceptual fashion piece crafted from spacer fabric and mixed media. The artist deliberately chose spacer fabric, a material associated with space technology, whose unique textile structure and tactile qualities echo the futuristic sensation of a time capsule. Through the interplay between transparent and opaque textiles, the work explores the intricate relationships between body, time, and memory. This work also serves as a reflection and documentation of the artist's life journey; by transforming the physical features of youth into wearable art, it materializes personal memories while employing the unique properties of spacer fabric to create a sense of temporal transcendence, simultaneously challenging viewers' conventional perceptions of body display and privacy boundaries. The piece creates a space capsule-like time vessel that encapsulates physical characteristics from a specific period, reflecting contemporary society's obsession with eternal youth while utilizing the material's technological qualities to present a futuristic documentation and preservation of the artist's life journey. This work can also be interpreted as a response to contemporary society's body worship, where the space capsule-like visual metaphor both presents the yearning for youthful beauty and suggests that such desire itself exists as an illusion suspended in time.
